Rail Maintenance

RailTerm is an experienced, safety-focused leader in the maintenance of rail infrastructure.

Our maintenance team provides track, signals, communications systems, electrification infrastructure and structures maintenance services to meet the safety and on-time performance requirements of intercity, commuter and light rail transit passenger services, on a 24/7/365 basis.

We started in the contract maintenance business in 1999 and have developed our practices to meet these key challenges:

  • Managing short maintenance windows
  • Dealing with harsh weather conditions
  • Coordinating effectively with other service providers and key third parties
  • Minimizing service delays and risk of public inconvenience

We are ISO certified in this activity and are dedicated to continuous improvement.

Our ongoing work with Capital Railway (City of Ottawa), VIA Rail Canada and Nylene Canada (Arnprior-Nepean Railway) involves scheduled and emergency maintenance and the management of major rehabilitation and repair projects.

We have experience in executing projects that involve P3 contract structures. Our contract for the Waterloo light rail system involves long-term maintenance and lifecycle scope responsibility for all track and systems, including traction power and overhead contact systems.

Throughout our years of maintaining rail infrastructure in Canada, RailTerm has interacted extensively with Transport Canada, the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and the Ministry of Transportation of Quebec, as well as numerous city and municipal agencies. On behalf of our clients, we have been sensitive and responsive to the various agencies’ requirements and believe these agencies have developed confidence in RailTerm.
